This site is built on the premise that people are generally good and want to help one another.
What is a Doodle?
A Doodle is based roughly on the US Dollar. 1 Doodle is equal to 1 Dollar. It's totally fictitious and has no real monetary value. It's just a way for people to trade unlike items.
How do I earn Doodles?
Doodles are basically earned by offering an item at a set Doodle Value, having someone request that item, you ship them the item, and once they receive it the Doodle Value will be added to your total Doodles. Here are some other ways to earn Doodles:
* Creating an account = 4 Doodles
* Uploading/Offering an item = 2 Doodles
* Share an item every day on your social network = 1 Doodle per day
Values may change as the site grows. It's tough work balancing a fake economy. :)
Why can't I upload large pictures?... What a rip.
True... very true. If you have an internet connection faster than DSL then you really don't have to worry about it... for the rest of us, here's the scoop: Doodad Swap is free... thus cash flow isn't exactly pouring in. So, the web hosting is a direct reflection of that. It's actually the web host that has the limit of "30 seconds per upload" on their servers so we have to play by their rules. As Doodadswap grows and makes a name for itself we'll continue to upgrade and eventually we'll make a move where it's no longer an issue. Until then... *sigh*
What's the G.T.R.?
The Give/Take Ratio (G.T.R.) was implemented to keep fraud under control. Swapping by definition means you have to give something to get something. While Doodad Swap doesn't require a 1 to 1 Ratio it does require you to stay inside a range. The G.T.R. is calcuated simply by subtracting "Items you've Taken" from "Items You've Given/Uploaded".
For example: If you've given 8 items and taken 3 then your G.T.R. is 5 (8 minus 3)
Another example: If you've given 2 items and taken 4 then your G.T.R. is -2 (2 minus 4)
I was interested in item X. The owner has not responded to e-mail. Is there a way to verify item is still available?
Even though we'd like to, Doodad Swap cannot force people to respond to questions about their items. After 30 days the item is paused and not available for request unless there is interaction with the owner. This helps keep items "fresh" but it is not 100%. We're simply a forum that allows people to swap items and avoids getting involved in individual deals. Please see our Terms Of Use
